Museum Victoria is currently creating a new permanent exhibition for the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Melbourne Museum. Renewal brings an opportunity for fresh perspectives, new insights and a larger focus on the region of south-eastern Australia - sharing the dynamic and vibrant cultures of Victorian Aboriginal people.
Visitors to the new exhibition in Bunjilaka will learn about, experience and connect with Aboriginal culture and history and discover contemporary relevance to Aboriginal stories and perspectives.
The permanent exhibitions in Bunjilaka closed on Friday 24 February 2012 to commence building works. The new exhibition, First Peoples, will open to the public on Friday 6 September 2013.
Birrarung, Milarri Garden and Kalaya will remain open during this time, with exhibitions in Birrarung showcasing the many artistic talents of our Victorian Koorie community. Public and Education Programs will also continue in Bunjilaka during this period.
